My Overlying Philosophy

For the Scientist who has lived by the faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance, he is about to conquer the highest peak, as he is about to pull himself above the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.

Robert Jastrow, 'God and the Astronomers.'

Inspiration

April 6, 1937 Herbert Clinton Carroll (my grandfather) wrote,

Sometimes when I am alone under the stars, I look out into space and wonder if our works look as small to God as his looks great to us.

It was his inspiration that started my lifelong journey into the field of Astronomy. He took me outside and pointed out the stars, planets, and constellations. That single moment in time changed my life, and that inspires me to seek similar opportunities to invest such moments in the lives of others, especially children and youth.

Isaiah 111:2

Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
